Celebrity Big Brother bosses knew they needed a big star this year to get the viewers in but they could not find one so they thought with all the fuss about Coronation Street this year they would sign up a has been soap star but fair play to them, Julie Goodyear is very outspoken and game for a laugh so it looks like a good signing on their part.
The former Coronation Street actress must be laughing all the way to the bank with her £300,000 deal to appear on the Celebrity Big Brother show but one thing is for certain, the other celebrities will not like the big wad of cash she has been given and one of those celebrities will be Duncan James.
Bosses of Celebrity Big Brother are hoping to see Julie Goodyear become a big attraction like Denise Welch was last year and according to a source on the show, they claim if she is half as good as Denise then it will be money well spent.
A source told the Sun: "Julie may be getting on a bit but she's certainly game for a laugh. Denise proved that the Corrie stars bring in a decent audience and don't mind poking fun at themselves and having a laugh. Julie is keen as mustard to get in the house and is already talking about winning."
Another soap star who has signed up to appear on the show is former Eastenders actress Cheryl Fergison who is being paid £175,000 while journalist Samantha Brick is being paid £50,000.
Celebrity Big Brother bosses and Channel 5 are hoping this year’s show will be bigger and better than last year’s show.
