Rio Ferdinand Convinced Manchester City Will Do The Treble

Manchester City have just one game to go to make a historic treble, and one former Manchester United star is convinced they will do it.

Rio Ferdinand has said he is convinced that Manchester City will complete a historic treble as they prepare to take on Inter Milan this weekend.

The Manchester United legend has said that Manchester United fans must get use to the fact that Manchester City will match Manchester United treble in 1999.

It is not just Rio Ferdinand who is convinced Manchester City will beat Inter Milan, a Manchester City fan has got a Treble-winners inking on his leg to commemorate winning all three major trophies.

Manchester City Treble

The Man City fan shared his new Treble winning tattoo on Tik Tok. One fan was worried about the ink claiming it could jinx the chances of Man City winning the treble.

The TikTok user wrote: ‘You’ve made Inter win now.’ Another said: ‘Embarrassing if you don’t win the UCL’, while a third, presumably more realistic City fan wrote: ‘I’m confident too but not that confident lol, fair play though cmon city!!!’

For years Manchester City were left in the wilderness watching Manchester United become the pride of Manchester and winning most matches. Now it is the turn of Manchester United fans to be envious as Manchester City under Pep Guardiola has become one of the most exciting and successful teams to watch.

Speaking to reporters this week ahead of the game, Guardiola admitted his side go into the tie as favourites and accepted they’ll be little support from neutrals watching the event.

‘Listen, when you are at this stage, not all the people around the world wants you to win,’ said Guardiola. ‘I am sure there are a lot of people in Italy who want Inter and the others don’t. That’s football with rivalry.

‘People who like us will for sure but the other ones… it doesn’t matter if they want Inter Milan.

‘With our club, I’ve learnt that overexcitement doesn’t suit us,’ he said. ‘So many clubs have destroyed projects and ideas because they weren’t able to win this competition, and so many have become big clubs because they were able to win it.

‘Even if I don’t share this opinion, I understand that everything we have done through all these years, which has been a lot and very good, will make sense to others if we win this competition.

‘If we don’t win it, then things will seem to make less sense. It’s a bit unfair, but we must accept it. That’s how it is.’

On Saturday Pep Guardiola’s men go into the final in Istanbul with the weight of expectation on their shoulders. They know this is just not about winning, but this is about making history. If they do win as is expected, Manchester will come alive with parties and pride.

One this is for sure, if the result goes the way it should, then Oasis Star Noel Gallagher will be nearly as happy as when he was when Oasis album Definitely Maybe went to number one.
