Boris Johnson has accused Rishi Sunak of ‘talking rubbish’ amid bitter feud
Rishi Sunak who has become one of the most unpopular Prime Ministers in recent history has started a war of worlds with Boris Johnson. Many believe the current Prime Minister is trying to shift attention from his failings as a Prime Minister by trying to make Boris Johnson look bad.
Today Rishi Sunak claimed that Boris Johnson asked him for help to overrule the panel vetting his resignation list appointments to the House of Lords. However, the failing Prime Minister said he was not willing to help and would not overrule the panel, saying it was “something I wasn’t prepared to do”.
It is believed that Rishi Sunak is fighting for his political career after experts have predicted that the Conservative Party will not be in power at the next General Election with Rishi Sunak in charge.
Boris Johnson has hit back at the claims he asked the former Chancellor who many believed betrayed Boris Johnson to step in and overrule the vetting committee. According to Boris Johnson, Rishi is talking rubbish.
In a statement, the ex-PM said: ” Rishi Sunak is talking rubbish. To honour these peerages it was not necessary to overrule Holac – but simply to ask them to renew their vetting, which was a mere formality.”
A spokesman for Rishi Sunak has said it is untrue that the Prime Minister removed names from the list.
It is “entirely untrue” that Mr Sunak or members of his No 10 team removed names from the House of Lords Appointments Commission (Holac) list.
Although Boris Johnson has now stood down as an MP, it is believed that he is now looking for a new seat to become an MP. The former Prime Minister was one of the most popular Prime Ministers of our time which according to insiders at Number 10 annoys Rishi Sunak.
A poll taken by Ipsos Political Monitor found that only 32% of people believe the current Prime Minister is doing a good job. With his popularity so low, many Conservative MPs would like to see the back of him.
Although Boris Johnson has resigned, he still has a lot of friends in the Conservative Party and many of them believe that if the Conservative Party lose at the next General Election, he could come back and lead the party to victory.
One loyal support of Boris Johnson who was MP for Grimsby and who will be standing again at the next General Election to get her seat back is Lia Nici. She said, “Boris Johnson has done more for Grimsby than any other politician in generations, if ever.”
With this type of support, it would be stupid according to experts to rule out Boris Johnson one day running the country as Prime Minister, and many believe this is why Rishi Sunak is trying to discredit Boris Johnson.
