All the Remaining DWP Support Payments for the Year

Lincolnshire residents can look forward to more DWP Support this year

We have put together the remaining DWP support people in Lincolnshire can expect to receive this year.

Lincoln News. In the midst of a cost-of-living crisis, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced a series of support payments that will be handed out over the next few months.

The people in Lincolnshire including Boston, Lincoln, Grimsby, Skegness, Louth, and Scunthorpe like the rest of the country have had a touch year this year. 2023 has seen petrol prices rocket, fuel bills increase, while wages have not increased. The DWP support has helped in a small way.

These payments aim to provide some relief to individuals and families who may benefit from extra cash. From the £300 cost of living payment to the winter fuel payment and the Christmas bonus, these payments will help alleviate the financial pressures faced by many.

The DWP will begin paying out the £300 cost of living support payment for those receiving means-tested benefits at the end of October.

This payment will be issued from October 31 until November 19. Initially, it will only be paid out to claimants who receive their benefit payments primarily from the DWP. However, those who receive benefit payments from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), such as Tax Credits, will begin receiving their cash from November 10 until November 19.

Eligible households receiving the following benefits will receive the £300 payment:

    Universal Credit

    Income-based Jobseekers Allowance

    Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

    Income Support

    Pension Credit

    Working Tax Credit

    Child Tax Credit

Winter Fuel Payment

To help with heating bills, the Winter Fuel Payment provides a bonus of between £250 and £600. However, not everyone is eligible for this payment. To qualify, individuals must have been born before September 25, 1957. The Winter Fuel Payment is bundled with the Pensioner Cost of Living Payment and will be distributed during the winter of 2023/24. Most payments should be made automatically in November or December, with eligible recipients receiving a letter beforehand informing them of the amount they will receive and when.

If individuals do not receive a letter or if the payment has not been deposited into their bank account by January 26, 2024, they are advised to contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.

£300 Pensioner Cost of Living Payment

For those entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment, an extra £150 to £300 will be added to their payment. This additional amount will be included with the Winter Fuel Payment, but the qualifying dates have not yet been set by the government.

£25 Cold Weather Payments

Certain households may be eligible for a £25 Cold Weather Payment depending on the temperature in their area over the winter period. These payments are made when the average temperature in an area is recorded or forecasted to be zero degrees Celsius or below for seven consecutive days. The Cold Weather Payment eligibility period starts on November 1, 2023, and lasts until March 31, 2024.

£10 Christmas Bonus

In the run-up to Christmas, individuals receiving certain benefits will receive an extra £10 in cash. This bonus is typically given during the first full week of December to people living or ordinarily resident in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, or Gibraltar. It’s important to note that Universal Credit is not included among the eligible benefits for the Christmas Bonus.

These support payments from the DWP provide much-needed relief for individuals and families facing financial challenges. The cost-of-living crisis has put a strain on many households, and these payments aim to alleviate some of the pressures. By offering financial support during the colder months and the holiday season, the DWP is working to ensure that individuals and families can meet their basic needs and have a little extra to celebrate during the festive period.
