Stamford Child Rapist Will Spend The Rest Of His Life In Jail

  • 72-Year-Old Lincolnshire Man To Spend Life in jail After Child Rapist Conviction

 

A 72-year-old Lincolnshire man who has been convicted of 20 historic rapes as well sexual assaults against children will die in prison.

Peter David Freeman, of Northumberland Avenue in Stamford, shocked the community when he was arrested for historic sexual offences against children.

In 2017 Peter David Freeman was reported to Northamptonshire Police by two women who claimed he raped them and sexually assaulted them a number of times in Raunds, a village in east Northamptonshire between 1975 and 1988.

An investigation was launched by Northamptonshire Police SOLAR team, who investigation rape and serious sexual assault cases. The investigation resulted in Peter Freeman being arrested and charged with 10 counts of rape against a child under 16. He was also charged with six counts of indecent assault against a child under 14.

In 2020, two more victims came forward, and as a result Peter David Freeman was further charged with five charges of indecent assault.

In April 2021, Freeman appeared in court and was found guilty of all but one charge of indecent assault. One September 10th, 2021, he returned to court where he heard he will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Peter Freeman was given nine sperate sentences for the 20 offences which each sentence to be served concurrently. In total, his sentence was extended to 25 years, with 22 of those years in prison and three out on licence.

If the 72-year-old manages does outlive his prison sentence, then he will be on the sex offenders register for life and will not be allowed to work with children.

The victims of Peter Freeman shocking crimes were aged between three and 15.

Investigating officer DC Colleen White, of the SOLAR team, said: “I am so pleased with this sentence, and hope it offers some comfort to the victims, who have shown nothing but class and courage in seeing this case through to its conclusion.

“Peter Freeman’s vile offending robbed these women of their childhoods as he inflicted repeated abuses on them, scaring them into silence for many years and leaving them forever changed.

“That they were eventually able to reveal what he put them through and report it to police is testament to their bravery and determination to see justice done.

“I hope this sentence brings them some comfort and helps them to move forward. It also goes to show that it is never too late to bring predators like this to account.

“If you have been subjected to any form of sexual abuse, regardless of when it took place, I would urge you to report it to police. We will believe you; we will support you, and we will do all we can to make sure those responsible pay for their crimes.”
