Grimsby Parents Warned To Get Their Children Vaccinated After Teenager Dies

  • Girl, 15, who was due to get her COVID-19 vaccine has died

Parents in Grimsby, Cleethorpes and the rest of Greater Lincolnshire are being advised to get their children vaccinated after a 15-year-old girl died.

Jorja Halliday, from Portsmouth died on the day she was due to have her COVID-19 vaccination. And now, her parents are advising all parents to go ahead and get their children vaccinated to stop any young lives being lost.

The teenage girl was struggling to eat on the Sunday, and the following day her health got worse as she could not eat at all after reporting her throat was hurting.

On the day she was due to get her COVID-19 she tested positive and sadly died on the Tuesday.

Her mother, Tracey Halliday, 40, who wants all parents to get their children vaccinated said her daughter was a “loving girl”, a talented kickboxer and an aspiring musician.

She said: “She was a loving girl and she had lots of friends.

“She was very active, she liked to go out and spend time with her friends and loved spending time with her brothers and sisters.

“Growing up she turned into a beautiful young lady, always wanting to help others, always there for everybody.”

She added: “It’s heart-wrenching because your kids are always meant to outlive you, and that’s the one thing I can’t get over.”

Ms Halliday said that Jorja’s siblings were devastated at her death.

She said that Jorja first developed flu-like symptoms before she underwent the PCR test which gave a positive result, leading to her isolating at their home.

She said that Jorja was struggling to eat on Sunday but by Monday she could not eat at all due to her throat hurting.

Ms Halliday contacted a doctor who then prescribed Jorja antibiotics. As her condition got worse, she was then seen by a doctor and was taken to hospital.

According to Ms Halliday, her daughter did not have any underlying medical conditions.

Ms Halliday does not want other parents to go through the pain and suffering that she is going through. She wants all parents in the UK to get their children vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible.
