The New COVID Omicron Variant Is In Lincolnshire

  • The First Lincolnshire Omicron case confirmed

Those people living and working in Lincolnshire are being warned to get fully vaccinated after the first case of the COVID Omicron Variant has been reported in Lincolnshire.

The first case of the COVID Omicron Variant has been reported in Boston according to the county’s health boss.

Lincolnshire’s director of public health, Professor Derek Ward, said the first case of the new Omicron Variant was found in the Boston area.

Professor Derek Ward said it was one of two cases confirmed at the same workplace and was linked to overseas travel.

“The other confirmed case was a colleague from another county who had recently returned from South Africa.”

“We know there are two cases from the same workplace in that town, but we know one of those cases isn’t a Lincolnshire resident and has recently returned from Southern Africa, so that’s the connection,” he said.

With news of the new variant being reported in Boston, health officials are warning all those living in Lincolnshire including Skegness, Grantham, Gainsborough, and Skegness to get fully vaccinated.

The COVID Omicron Variant is spreading fast, and more cases are expected to be reported in the Greater Lincolnshire area.

It is not if the new variant will be reported in places like Grimsby and Scunthorpe, it will be when.
