Fight Breaks On Ryanair Flight With One Arrest Made

Police storm Ryanair flight at Manchester Airport after ‘mid-air fight’ erupts with man arrested

A Ryanair flight was forced to return to Manchester Airport after a mid-air fight broke out onboard. The incident led to the intervention of the police, who stormed the plane upon its arrival.

The flight, which was en route to Faro, Portugal, departed from Manchester Airport on Monday morning. However, it quickly became apparent that one passenger was causing significant disruption. Eyewitnesses reported that the individual became violent and initiated a mid-air fight.

The disruptive passenger’s behaviour escalated to the point where he allegedly mistreated a female passenger. In response, another woman traveling with him slapped him across the face. The situation became untenable, prompting the flight crew to request police assistance.

Ryanair, the airline operating the flight, issued a statement expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the disruptive individual. They confirmed that the crew had requested police assistance, leading to the plane’s return to Manchester Airport. The disruptive passenger was subsequently removed from the aircraft by local police.

A spokesperson for Ryanair said: “The crew of this flight from Manchester to Faro on September 18 requested police assistance after a passenger became disruptive on board.

“This flight turned back to Manchester and this passenger was removed from the aircraft by local police before the flight continued safely to Faro following a short delay. This is now a matter for local police.

“We sincerely apologise to affected passengers for any inconvenience caused as a result of this passenger’s disruptive behaviour.”

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed the incident and said officers attended the plane when it landed back in Manchester.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 6.25am this morning, Monday, September 18 officers were called to reports of a disruptive passenger on a flight bound for Faro.

“Upon the plane returning to Manchester Airport, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of being drunk on an aircraft, two counts of common assault and a Section 4a public order and remains in police custody for questioning. “

Passengers on the flight expressed a mix of emotions ranging from shock and fear to relief and gratitude. Many praised the actions of the flight crew and the police for their swift intervention. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment onboard aircraft.

The incident raises questions about airline safety measures and the handling of disruptive passengers. It prompts a broader discussion about the protocols and training that airlines should have in place to address such situations.
