Come and Visit Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. The popular seaside resort on the estuary of the Humber in North East Lincolnshire, England is home to Thorpe Park Cleethorpes. Over the years Cleethorpes which is twinned with Königswinter, Germany has undergone a lot of redevelopment.
Before becoming a popular holiday resort, Cleethorpes was a small fishing village. In the 1840s, Cleethorpes population started to grow with the arrival of the railway. Now, it boasts four miles of beautiful, sandy, award-winning beaches and a pier. The Pier that takes centre stage on Cleethorpes Beach opened in 1873 costing £8,000.
Cleethorpes Beach will be one of the first things you see when you visit. It offers spectacular views and is filled with holidaymakers on a sunny day. The golden sandy beach has a backdrop of arcades, café’s, gardens, restaurants, and crazy golf, not to mention the gift shops on Cleethorpes seafront.
Dogs are allowed on Cleethorpes Beach between 1 October to 30 April. And, if you go further down the beach between the leisure centre and the Fitties you may see horses having fun.
Cleethorpes is known for many wonderful things, but one big tourist attraction is the signal box, which is the smallest pub in the world. The Cleethorpes Signal Box is part of the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway. Cleethorpes Bowling Alley is not great place to have fun. The resort made headline news when it was reported that on 22 September 1956 at 3pm a UFO was spotted.
