South Kesteven sees a sharp rise in COVID cases
This week Lincolnshire County Council has posted a message on Twitter saying “We still need to do all we can to stop the spread of #COVID-19.”
It is not surprising that Lincolnshire County Council are still asking people to be careful, especially when COVID cases are still rising in the UK, with South Kesteven seeing a sharp rise this week.
According to official figures, South Kesteven has seen 677 new cases of COVID. That brings the number of COVID cases in our area to 14,003.
South Kesteven seven-day infection rate stands at 480 per every 100,000 people, two weeks ago this was only 206. That means in the space of two weeks the infection rate has doubled. Although this is worrying, the national seven-day infection rate is 344.
Sadly, the number of people who have died in our area within 28 days of testing positive is 286.
109,892 people had been given a first dose of the COVID vaccine according to official figures, and 104,383 people have been given a second dose.
The people of Grantham and South Kesteven are being warned to be on their guard and take all precautions they can to fight off the COVID virus.
