A 23-year-old man arrested after woman seriously injured in Grantham hit-and-run crash
Lincolnshire police have arrested a 23-year-old man after he failed to stop in what has been described as a serious hit-and-run incident.
The man was driving a black VW Golf along New Beacon Road in Grantham when he hit a female pedestrian. Instead of stopping, the driver fled the scene, leaving the 57-year-old woman with serious injuries.
The crash happened at 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 13th. The victim was taken to hospital, but according to Lincolnshire Police her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said the incident happened at 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 15th. According to Lincolnshire Police, the 23-year-old travelled from the Harrowby Lane area and headed towards Grantham town centre.
Although the driver fled the scene, he was arrested shortly after the incident. The man who has not been named was arrested for failing to stop but has been released while further investigation takes place.
Due to the incident, New Beacon Road had to be closed for several hours before being reopened at 3am Thursday September 16.
Lincolnshire Police have said they would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident, and also anyone who may have captured the crash on their dashcams.
