Grimsby This England Star Thomas Turgoose to star in new Shane Meadows period drama
Grimsby Star Thomas Turgoose who has starred in hits including This Is England, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, is to star a new period drama with fellow This Is England star Michael Socha
Thomas Turgoose will team up once again with Shane Meadows who is directing the new BBC period drama The Gallows Pole.
The Gallows Pole follows an 18th century gang of workers who get involved in criminal activity. According to a spokesman for the BBC, the period drama is based on the book by the same name written by Benjamin Myers.
The story is based on real life events and follows the events of an ironworker named David Hartley and the Cragg Vale Coiners.
Thomas Turgoose who is playing the lead role of David Hartley was spotted filming the drama last week in Yorkshire
Speaking about the cast, director Shane Meadows said: “”Putting this cast together has been an absolute joy.
“To be working with actors I’ve grown up with and/or have been desperate to work with, alongside oodles of incredible ‘as yet’ undiscovered talent, is an absolute honour and I’ve not been this passionate about shooting a project in years!”
The Gallows Pole cast also includes George MacKay, Tom Burke, Sophie McShera, Cara Theobold, Yusra Warsama, Samuel Edward-Cook, Anthony Welsh and more.
Thomas Turgoose has become one of the best loved and successful actors in Lincolnshire, appearing in hit after hit.
