Not Received DWP Payment What Should You Do

Published on

What to Do If You Haven’t Yet Received Your £300 Payment from DWP

If you haven’t yet received your £300 payment from the DWP, it is essential to be aware of the possible reasons for the delay and the steps you can take to rectify the situation

Seven million homes in the UK are being given the £300 cost of living payments straight into their bank accounts, with thousands of them located in Lincolnshire. The DWP cost of living payment started to arrive in people’s bank accounts last Tuesday.

Intended to ease the financial burden on families, these payments are being distributed in three instalments, with the second payment scheduled to be received between October 31 and November 19, 2023.

There are thousands of people in Lincolnshire including in Lincoln, Skegness, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, and Boston, who have still not received their cost-of-living payment.

If you are one of the individuals who have not yet received their payment, don’t panic.

These payments are part of a larger initiative to support households and alleviate the impact of rising living costs.

The three payments, totalling £900, are being made during the tax year 2023/24. The first payment of £301 was issued in spring this year, and the third and final payment, amounting to £299, will be issued in spring 2024.

Here is the breakdown of all the Cost-of-Living Payments in the tax year 2023/24:

Between April 25 and May 17: £301 for most people on DWP means-tested benefits.

Between May 2 and 9: £301 for most people on HMRC tax credits and no other means-tested benefits.

Between June 20 and July 4: £150 for people on disability benefits.

Between October 31 and November 19: £300 for eligible recipients.

November and December: £300 for pensioners receiving Winter Fuel Payment.

Spring 2024: £299 for people on means-tested benefits – exact dates yet to be announced.

Please note that these dates are subject to change, and it is essential to stay informed about any updates from the government regarding the payment schedule.

Reasons for Delayed Payment

If you haven’t received your £300 payment within the specified timeframe, there may be a few reasons for the delay. It is crucial to consider the following factors:

Qualifying Benefit or Tax Credit: The payment is dependent on receiving qualifying benefits or tax credits from the DWP or HMRC. If you were awarded a qualifying benefit or tax credit at a later date, or if there was a change to your benefits account, it might lead to a delay in the payment.

Exclusively Receiving Benefits from HMRC: If you exclusively receive benefits from HMRC, your payment may be delayed. The HMRC cost of living payment, similar to the DWP payment, is £300 and will be automatically issued. However, the payment for those receiving benefits exclusively from HMRC will begin from November 10 instead of the initial payment date.

Bank Account Changes: If you recently changed your bank account, your payment might be delayed. However, rest assured that you will still receive the Cost-of-Living payment automatically, albeit at a later date.

Reporting a Missing Payment

If the November 19 deadline passes, and you still haven’t received your cost-of-living payment, you have the option to report a missing payment. The Department for Work and Pensions has provided an online form specifically for reporting missing payments. Follow these steps to report a missing payment:

Visit the online form provided by Gov.uk at https://secure.dwp.gov.uk/report-a-missing-cost-of-living-payment/welcome

Fill out the required information accurately, ensuring all details are correct.

Submit the form, and the DWP will review your case and take the necessary steps to resolve the issue.

It is important to report a missing payment as soon as possible after the deadline to ensure prompt action from the DWP.
