Having filmed scenes for the upcoming and highly anticipated HBO series “Warrior” in South Africa, Chelsea Muirhead admits that she is glad to be back in the city she calls home, Toronto. Home for her is where she gets to reconnect with her roots and be a part of the community that has always supported her, and she is always happy to acknowledge the debt of gratitude that she owes it.
“Warrior” is the creation of Johnathan Topper, the man behind Banshee and showrunner for several Apple and HBO projects. With producer Shannon Lee at the helm, the show has always sought to push the boundaries of modern media. It tells the story of a Chinese-American warrior in 19th Century San Francisco. It openly discusses subjects such as racism and prejudice, prevalent in those times but still, sadly, poignant and important issues today.
As one of the film industry’s “one to watch,” Chelsea is looking forward to working with and supporting a variety of emerging filmmakers and creatives and is looking into this season’s festivals, particularly Tribeca, Toronto, Venice Film, and Cannes.
