Is it not time that the voters seen the light and kicked the Conservative Party out of power?
Shocking figures have revealed that you have a reduced chance of surviving cancer if you live under the wrong NHS lottery.
More than 375,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK every year and more than 134,802 people die of cancer every year. While the Government are refusing to give NHS medical staff a decent pay rise and while they are not providing vital money is needed to improve the NHS, it seems we still live in an NHS lottery.
Sadly, if you live in the areas that are controlled by the worst performing hospitals then you could be waiting at least two years to find out if you have cancer.
The worst areas to find out that you have cancer and to receive an official diagnosis are:
Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS trust – 671 days
Dartford and Gravesham NHS trust – 649 days
Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS trust – 599 days
George Eliot Hospital NHS trust – 544 days
King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation trust – 513 days
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation trust – 469 days
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS trust – 397 days
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation trust – 385 days
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation trust – 372 days
Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation trust – 362 days
Areas such as Manchester, Skegness, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Boston, are not on the list.
Official Government targets for cancer patient to receive treatment are set at 85% within two years. However, with all the hospitals failing that target, it shows once again how the Conservative Government are letting down cancer patient and the NHS. With these shocking results, it shows that if you have cancer or believe you have cancer then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his Government are failing you.
Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting, who has recovered from kidney cancer, said: “How can the Tories claim our public services are in good shape when cancer patients are left waiting months and even years, while their cancer could be spreading?
“I know from my own experience that every second counts.”
Responding to how the Conservative Government are letting cancer patients down, a Tory spokesperson said: “We are cutting NHS waiting lists, so people get the care they need, including by recruiting a record number of doctors and nurses, and investing an extra £45.6billion into health and social care.”
The Department of Health said: “The NHS has been treating record numbers of patients for cancer over the last two years.
“Over nine in 10 patients are starting cancer treatment within one month, and the number of patients waiting more than 18 months for care has fallen by more than four-fifths since the peak last September.”
It shows that the Tory Government are out of touch with the official figures and why it is time for Rishi Sunak to step down and why it is time for the Labour Government to take over.
