Those needing help with domestic abuse rose by 22% during the pandemic according to official figures
The domestic abuse helpline run by Refuge saw a big increase in the number of calls they received during the pandemic.
According to official figures, the number of calls they received rose by 22%. 49,756 calls were made to the helpline over the year to March 2021.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed the rise in calls peaked during the national lockdowns
Another victim of domestic abuse helpline called Mankind that support male victims said calls were up by 23% during the same period.
There has been an increase in domestic abuse in most areas of Greater Lincolnshire including Scunthorpe, Grimsby, and Boston.
