Many people and retail businesses in North Lincolnshire, which includes Scunthorpe, have called for the council to provide better parking facilities.

In North East Lincolnshire, which covers Grimsby, Cleethorpes, and Immingham, the revenue from parking fines raised £266,071 for the council between 2023-24.

A council spokesperson said:

“Any surplus is ring-fenced by legalisation which limits what it can be spent on, and the revenue breakdown is published on the council website.”

The reason for the increase in parking fines is partly down to enforcement cameras being installed outside of schools.
