Mablethorpe’s first Tesco superstore now open
Tesco has been trying to get a store in the popular seaside resort of Mablethorpe for many years. Today they have achieved their goal by opening their first Tesco superstore in the area.
The new Mablethorpe Tesco has created 115 jobs. Many of the managers and staff trained at nearby stores including Skegness and Cleethorpes to gain the training they needed.
The 20,000 square foot superstore will give people living in and around the area more options when they are looking to purchase their weekly groceries.
Mablethorpe Tesco will open from 7am-11pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
The local Tesco store will donate surplus food to local groups and food banks, showing their support for the local community.
As part of the celebration of the new store, three charities and community programmes in the area received donations of £1,000 each. They include Mablethorpe Primary Academy, Furnichurch, and Springwell Community Learning.
Liz Stewart, Store Manager, said: “We are incredibly proud to support these very special local charities and to have presented them with the community grants today. We know this money will make a real difference to the groups.
“We are extremely excited to have opened our Mablethorpe superstore. The new store offers the local community a brilliant service, Changing Places Facility, F&F clothing and a broad range of products, as well as available free-to-use EV charging points. We look forward to welcoming our first customers.”
The store has already become a huge hit with local residents. Many of those living in the area had to drive to Skegness if they wanted to shop at Tesco.
