People Fed Up Of Stagecoach Skegness Bus Cancellations

  • More bus cancellations have been announced in Skegness

The people of Skegness are calling on the council to get involved with the less than adequate bus service they have received over the past couple of weeks.

For the past couple of weeks Stagecoach have announced a number of bus routes being cancelled due to staff shortage. The bus company has claimed the staff shortage is down to Brexit and also the COVID pandemic.

Today, Stagecoach have announced more routes that have had to be cancelled due to no drivers. But now some Skegness residents are saying enough is enough and wants the council to take action.

A number of people who live in Skegness have contacted Lincolnshire News & Lifestyle and said they understand the bus company has a driver shortage problem, but it seems they are moving to slow to solve it.

It seems the overwhelming response is Stagecoach are doing nothing or too little to solve the problem, and now people of Skegness want the council to have a meeting with bosses at Stagecoach to see what can be done to solve the bus cancellation crisis.

Buses serving Skegness, Horncastle, Mablethorpe, Chapel St Leonards and Ingoldmells have been cancelled by what Stagecoach East Midlands said is down to ‘staff shortages’.

Today the following bus routes have been cancelled: 2.35pm, 3.05pm, 6.05pm, 8.35pm.

Cancelled return services on route one: 3.10pm, 3.40pm, 6.40pm, 09.05pm.

Route 56 services that are cancelled: 11am from Skegness to Horncastle and Lincoln, 1pm from Lincoln to Horncastle and Skegness, 4pm from Skegness to Horncastle and Lincoln, 6pm from Lincoln to Horncastle and Skegness.

The following route 59 services between Skegness and Mablethorpe and return will also not operate: 4.35pm from Skegness to Mablethorpe and 6.15pm from Mablethorpe to Skegness.

A spokesman for Stagecoach has posted on their Twitter account which read: “Whilst we are continuing to operate the majority of our services as normal, some are being affected by current staff shortages.

“Please bear with us and we appreciate your patience at this time.

“All updates can be found on Twitter.”

Some people living and working in Skegness want to see fines implemented for each bus route that has been cancelled.

Stagecoach is not currently making any further comment on the driver shortage crisis.
