Skegness Bingo fans are in shock after being notified Majestic Bingo had gone into administration.

There were rumours during the past year that Majestic Bingo which has a club on Roman Bank, Skegness was in financial trouble. Now it has been confirmed that the Bingo Operator which has a bingo club on Roman Bank, Skegness has gone into administration.

The firm’s liabilities for the full year to 31 December 2021 exceeded its assets by £5,832,000, which resulted in the Independent Bingo chain selling it’s in Castleford and Mexborough. It went on to sell bingo clubs in Mansfield, Barrow, and Durham.

It was only last month that Majestic Bingo revealed that it had sold its Mansfield Club to Club 3000, but it seems that sale was not enough to keep the company afloat.

Some members of the Roman Bank bingo hall who had credit in their account were notified by letter that Majestic Bingo has gone into administration. Other members were left in the dark.

If a buyer cannot be found for Majestic Bingo, then it would result in 160 jobs being lost around the country including in Skegness.

One staff member at Majestic Bingo in Skegness told In2town Today News that she was shocked at the news and was worried for the club’s future.

“I just hope one of the big operators comes along and buys majestic bingo. It is not just about the jobs being lost, we are a community here, and people who don’t get out much come here to meet friends.”

Just days after Majestic Bingo was placed into administration by Managing Director – Mark Jepp, the former director has now left the company and is now working for Mecca Bingo as Head of Machines.

The future of Majestic Bingo which blames COVID and the high cost of living for the failure of their bingo chain remains uncertain.

If no one comes along and buys the Majestic Bingo chain then it will not only mean the loss of jobs, but it will also be another important activity for SKegness residents lost and could result in a treasured building being empty for many years.
